The Snowflakes are Lit Up!

Published by admin on November 27th, 2011 - in Uncategorized

The ‘Snowlflake Social’ Sunday evening culminated in the lighting of eight new, large,  Snowflake decorations in downtown Stewardson. Santa made an appearance to delight of the many children in attendance (young and old).

The Stewardson C.O.W.S organization began accumlating funds for the new decorations last year, with the first annual Stewardson Trail of Lights contest, photographs with Santa at the local Santa house, and several other functions. The group hopes to add more lights next year using funds they hope to generate from activities this winter.

A large group was in attendance to enjoy soup and sandwiches and collect donations of food items for the community food pantry, held in reserve for those in need in the community.

The village of Stewardson had a program Sunday afternoon, to honor the Stewardson Veterans as well as a benefit dinner to help garner funds for maintenance and upkeep on the towns Veterans Memorial. The very well attended event was held in the Stewardson Community building and included the Advancement of Colors by the local Wilbur Braughton Legion Post 611, invocation by Trinity Lutheran Church Pastor Bremer and music by the Stewardson Strasburg Community Singers. Everyone in attendance was invited to join in the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.
A free will donation was accepted and dinner was donated by Don Debolt Accounting of Stewardson and the Effingham Culver’s restaurant.
Thank you to all who came and showed their support!
