COWS to Again Sponsor Beautiful Yard Contest

The Community Organization Working for Stewardson has announced that it will again sponsor The Beautiful Yard of the Month Award for all Stewardson residents. Many residents have worked hard to get their yards in top condition, to improve their landscaping, and to help in the overall beautification of Stewardson. The Housing and Beautification Action Team of C.O.W.S. wants to recognize these beautiful yards.

There will be 6 Judge’s Choice Awards – one each for May, June, July, August, and September, as well as the Most Patriotic Yard to be judged in late June in conjunction with the Stewardson 4th of July celebration. Each month’s award will be judged the last weekend of the month prior to the Award month. For example, the June Beautiful Yard of the Month will be judged by impartial judges the last weekend of May.

Each winner will receive a sign to place in their yard for all to see and recognition on www.Stewardsonil.com and in local media.

All Stewardson residents are encouraged to participate!

Safety Barracades Needed for Stewardson Tractor Pull

Stewardson Lions Club is looking for individuals to purchase concrete blocks to help keep the spectators and pullers safe at their annual tractor pulls. Any individuals interested in purchasing a section of a concrete barracade at $60 please contact Tracy Vonderheide at 217-868-5875. As always the Stewardson Lions Club strives to make the tractor pulls bigger and better every year.

Stew-Stras Alumni Banquet May 26

The Stewardson-Strasburg Alumni Association officers have made plans for the annual alumni banquet scheduled for Saturday, May 26, 2012. The banquet will be held at the Stewardson Community Building.
Social hour begins at 5 PM followed by dinner at 6 PM. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Tickets are available for purchase until May 19 from Prairie National Bank in Stewardson or Shelby County State Bank in Strasburg. Off Route 32 Café, Stewardson, will cater the meal.
Join us to “Remember the past and focus on the future.” We will enjoy a presentation by the current administration of Stew-Stras regarding the recent renovation and addition to the school. Also a representative from the PTSA will share with us their activities and projects.
The committee is seeking nominees for the Outstanding Alumnus and Distinguished Service Awards. Criteria for these awards can be obtained from Karen Rentfro. Nomination letters should be mailed to Karen Rentfro, PO Box 208, Strasburg, IL 62465 or email at karenrentfro@yahoo.com by May 1, 2012.
Opportunities are available to hold class reunions in conjunction with the banquet. If you would like to do so, please call Heath or Autumn McCormick at 217-690-8930.

Stewardson Hosting Hog Roast

Stewardson is hosting a Hog Roast April 21, from 4-8pm at the Stewardson Community Center. Proceeds go towards the purchase of a portable stage. Free will donation. Pork Loin and Rope Sausage (cooked by Oscar Thomas) baked beans, applesauce, potato chips, dessert and drink.
