Stewardson to Celebrate Beginning of Holiday Season with Snowflake Social!

Published by admin on November 14th, 2012 - in Events

Thanks to donations from Auto Glass Unlimited, Brummerstedt Funeral Home, C.O.W.S., Lions Club, the Noffke family, Prairie National Bank, the Yakey family, and several anonymous donations, downtown Stewardson will be decked out for the holidays. New snowflake Christmas decorations will grace the street lights along Main Street.

To celebrate the season and the new decorations, a Snowflake Social will be held in the Stewardson Community Building on Sunday, November 25 from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. The public is invited to join in the fellowship of an old fashioned soup supper beginning at 5:00. Santa will arrive to greet visitors at 5:30. At 6:00, Santa will use his magic to “flip the switch” on the new Snowflake Christmas lights.

Free-will donations are appreciated, and donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, and cleaning supplies to stock the Food Pantry at Trinity Church are being collected during the Social.

Plans are underway to purchase additional Snowflake lights to extend further down Main Street. If you or your business would like to donate to the cause, please contact Kris Renshaw. Struggling for Christmas ideas? C.O.W.S will send a note that records a contribution has been made in honor of a loved one. Help brighten Stewardson for the Christmas holidays!

Join your friends and neighbors as Stewardson celebrates the beginning of the holidays!

We wanted to take a moment to share some upcoming events that weren’t highlighted in the last edition of the Stewardson MOOS. As C.O.W.S. (Community Organization Working for Stewardson), we know our community includes the youth and the programs they are involved in. We wanted to ensure the C.O.W.S community is aware of these events so you too can support the youth!

· The Annual Veteran’s Day Program will be held at Stew-Stras in the High School gym tomorrow, November 8th. This year, the Drama Club and grades 4, 5, and 6 will be putting on the program titled “We The People”. The program will be held at 1:30pm and again at 7:00pm. A free will donation will be taken at the door with proceeds going to the SSHS Drama Club and the Central Illinois Honor Flight Program for Veterans.

· Do you like trivia? Do you think you’re smarter than a 5th grader or could wow Alex Trebek in Jeopardy? Then this event is for you! On Saturday, November 10th at 7pm, the Stew-Stras Student Council and the National Honor Society will partner to host a Trivia Night. Registration begins at 6pm. Made up of 6-10 person teams, the winning team will get $100 cash and a prize. Entry fee is $85 at the door. Prizes will also be awarded for best dressed team and best decorated table. Mulligans may also be purchased for $1 each (limit of one per round). A 50/50 drawing along with Heads & Tails will be held during intermission.
