Santa Claus Is Coming To Town!

Come visit with Santa at his house in Stewardson on Saturday, December 14 from 9-11 am and Sunday, December 15 from 1-3 pm. Santa’s elves will be serving cookies and hot cocoa from 1-3 on Sunday. Bring the whole family for a family picture with Santa for only $5.00.

WCIA to Celebrate Our Town Stewardson

The tiny Village of Stewardson will be buzzing with activity on Friday, July 19th as cameramen, celebrities, and equipment move in! Stewardson will be featured on the WCIA Channel 3 CI Living from 4-5 pm and the News will be broadcast live from the Stewardson Park from 5-6. Stewardson is the smallest town ever to be featured on Our Town or CI Living.

Join in the fun! Free hamburgers, courtesy of Prairie National Bank, and free hotdogs, courtesy of the Stewardson Lions Club will be served at the Park Pavilion from 4-7.

You will have a chance to meet Channel 3 News Broadcasters Dave Benton, Jennifer Roscoe, Aaron Benett, Derick Fabert, and Judy Fraser.

The CI Living program will be kicked off by the Stewardson Strasburg High School Drum Line at 4. Performances by Dance Etc will follow. Live interviews of many of your friends and neighbors will be conducted at the Park. The Veterans’ Memorial and Historical Museum will be featured. And that’s not all! Antique tractors and trucks will be on display. The Corps of Engineers will be offering information on boat safety. A Bounce House will be available for the kids’ entertainment. Many local businesses and organizations will be promoting their services and WCIA will be raffling prizes.

Come show your support for Stewardson! There will be something for everyone!

Stewardson 4th of July Celebration

Stewardson’s 4th of July celebration will be held Sunday, June 30th. The day’s festivities will be kicked off by a Pork Chop dinner served by C.O.W.S. at the Stewardson Community building from 11 am – 1 pm. The menu includes a grilled pork chop, baked potato or potato salad, baked beans, watermelon, and drink. The parade, organized by the Stewardson Fire Department, will step off at 3 pm.

Games and fun activities will be provided after the parade along with food at the park. Begin assembling your Geo Scavenger Hunt Team now. Each team of 4 will receive geographical coordinates of caches located around the area. Prizes will be awarded. The hunt will begin at 5 pm. All proceeds benefit the Stew-Stras Europe Excursion 2014. Want to stay in the park? A Bean Bag Tournament also begins at 5 pm. A Karate Demonstration will be held at 6 pm, followed by a performance by Dance Etc. at 7 pm. New this year, is the Not-So-Beauty Beauty Pageant at 7:40. Some lucky gentleman will be crowned Miss Heifer! The Little Mr. & Miss Stewardson will be crowned by 8 pm. The food stand will be open until 8 pm. The beautiful firework display, provided by the Village of Stewardson, will begin at dusk. Make plans now to celebrate in Stewardson on Sunday, June 30th!

C.O.W.S. to Sponsor 3rd Annual Big Sausage Jeep Run

The Community Organization Working for Stewardson has announced plans to make the 3rd Annual Big Sausage Run even bigger and better.

The event is to be held Saturday, June 22 and is promoted as a Jeep Run, but all vehicles are welcome, rain or shine. The fun begins with registration at 11:00 am at the Stewardson Community Building. The Run starts promptly at 12:30 and will return at 6 pm.

Back by popular demand, the smoked foot long rope sausage meal will be served starting at 6 pm. New this year is a Beer Garden. Live music will provided by The Sampson Jones Gang and Zach Linley & The Rebel Dare Devils. Raffles and drawings will be held all day.

The cost for the Jeep Run is $10 per driver and $5 for each additional passenger.

This year’s run is in memory of the late Don Everett who devoted many hours to the Stewardson Volunteer Fire Department and the Community Organization Working for Stewardson. All proceeds will be split between the Stewardson Volunteer Fire Department and C.O.W.S. for the restoration and beautification of Stewardson
