Brian Flach and Nate Wascher accept award for Jim Carroll from Linda Lee Blaine and Giselle Hamm

Each year elected officials and community leaders from around Illinois and neighboring states participate in the Annual Rural Community Economic Development Conference, where they gain new insights into the strategies needed in today’s economic development environment. This year’s conference was held March 7- 8 in Peoria, and was hosted by the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs (IIRA) in conjunction with the Governor’s Rural Affairs Council, chaired by Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon and Rural Partners.

Three statewide awards are given to communities who have participated in the MAPPING (Management and Planning Programs Involving Nonmetropolitan Groups) process through the IIRA. Jim Carroll of Stewardson was selected as winner of the Community Champion award for his work in organizing and leading the Community Organization Working for Stewardson (C.O.W.S.). Show here are Linda Lee Blaine and Giselle Hamm of MAPPING presenting the award to Brian Flach and Nate Wascher, accepting for Carroll.

Online Fundraising Explained…

As you probably already know, many of us today use online shopping for our purchases. You can now come here to our Stewardson website,  and click on the On-Line Shopping link on the right, and shop at over 400 online stores carrying the things you ordinarily purchase.

When you purchase things online through this link, things you probably already buy from the store, MAPPING will get a percent of the purchase money back. Whether you’re buying back to school supplies, downloading songs, purchasing a gift, or shopping for Christmas gifts you can be helping our community. You may also make a donation directly to MAPPING by using the Donate feature.

Be sure to tell your friends, family and work associates about this wonderful opportunity so they can take advantage of the convenience and help support a local cause, Our Community!
