ANOTHER LITTLE LIBRARY IN STEWARDSON

Published by tvonderheide on January 15th, 2014 - in Uncategorized

Betty Mahnke has placed a Little Free Library on her busy Stewardson corner. LFL #10901 is located at 425 N Vine St in the northwest corner of town. Her library has a dollhouse appearance with wallpaper decorating the inside and a small attic of children’s books available on the south side. Betty has been in her house since 2001, a work in progress with recent renovations. She enjoyed making her library with Larry Schultz and wanted it to be similar in color to her house. Betty’s book preferences include biographies, autobiographies, Christian books especially Billy Graham’s latest, mystery books, gardening and nature books. Betty would love for you to stop by and visit her quaint library.

Little Free Libraries began in Wisconsin in 2010. Since then, it has become an international sensation with LFL’s popping up in urban and rural areas. Little Free Libraries promote literacy and the love of reading while fostering a sense of community and connection. The Little Free Library website has a Google map with all the little libraries located by coordinates on it, go to www.littlefreelibrary.org to see Betty’s #10901.

If you see a book that interests you in Betty’s library, please take it to read. If you have a book to share, bring it to Betty’s library. The idea is “take a book, bring a book,” a free book exchange in your neighborhood. Betty keeps her library stocked with books and magazines that interest her and her readers. If you don’t have a book to share, not to worry, please come and take a book anyway.

Stewardson has several Little Free Libraries for you to check out. If you need further information, you can contact Autumn McCormick at 217-690-8930 or on the Facebook page “Little Free Libraries of Stewardson, Illinois”.
