2013 Hoofin To The Cow 5K

Third annual Hoofin to the Cow 5k and 1 mile fun run/walk will be held Saturday, June 1st. Take off will be at 8:30am for both races. CHIP timing will be used again this year for the race. Entry forms need to be turned in by May 21 to get the discounted pre-registered price.

Stewardson Strasburg Alumni Banquet Set

The Stewardson-Strasburg Alumni Association officers have received nominations for the awards to be presented at the annual banquet on May 25, 2013 at the Stewardson Community Center. One award will be presented in the three categories: Outstanding Student Award, Distinguished Service Award and Outstanding Alumnus Award.

Outstanding Student Award nominees are Jason Becker, James Thomas (JT) Friese, and Haley Danielle Mettendorf. Outstanding Alumnus Award Nominees are Earl Renshaw and Victoria J. Jeisy Scott. Distinguished Service Award Nominees are James Harrison, Donald Harrison, and Mark Wildman.

Tickets for the banquet are$10 in advance and $12 at the door and are available from Prairie National Bank, Stewardson, Shelby County State Bank, Strasburg, or Stewardson Builders Supply. Social hour begins at 5 PM, Dinner at 6 PM catered by Culver’s of Effingham, Award presentations and entertainment featuring our Stewardson COWS and Strasburg SCAN groups to follow.

The Class of 1958 and 1993 are planning reunions at this year’s banquet. Please get your tickets now and join us for a great evening of fellowship and reminiscing. May Beautiful Yard Award Winners

Steve and Diana Vonderheide were chosen for the May Beautiful Yard Award. Their grass is cut in a style with stripes with beautiful hanging baskets along with hostas and ornamental grasses planted throughout their yard. Congratulations Vonderheide’s!!

Stewardson Lions Club Summer Baseball Program

It is time once again to sign up children for the Summer Baseball Program in Stewardson.

The Summer Baseball Program will have at least two divisions of play. Coaches are needed at the T-Ball, and Coaches Pitch age groups–please help!!!!! It appears that there is not enough interest this year for a Little League team. If you are interested in forming a Little League team (11 and 12) or a Pony League team (13-15), please contact Mark Wascher. If you have a son or daughter that would like to play on a Stewardson Little League or Pony League team—please sign the child up, but do not pay a fee at this time.

T-Ball League for 5-7 year olds
Coaches Pitch League for 8-10 year olds

Most games will begin immediately after Memorial Day.

Although Stewardson Lions Club is sponsoring the program, the Club asks that children in the T-Ball and Coaches Pitch League pay $5.00 for participation. PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE PAYMENT WITH THE REGISTRATION FORM.

ANY FORM RECEIVED AFTER THE April 8th DEADLINE MUST INCLUDE AN ADDITIONAL PAYMENT OF $5.00.

On April 9, you’ll be asked to vote on a temporary tax referendum that will determine the future of our schools. It is vitally important that all voters know what’s at stake. Make your plans now to attend the upcoming Community Forum. It’s open to all residents of the Stewardson-Strasburg School District community. On Thursday, March 7 at 7 p.m.in the Stewardson-Strasburg Community High School.

Annual Chili, Misc Soup, Dessert Cookoff

A chili, miscellaneous soup and dessert cook-off will be held Saturday March, 9th at the Stewardson Community Building. Those who would like to enter the contest please contact Myrna Jones at 682-3811 or Candi Kessler at 682-5480 for more info. A cash prize of $25 and a wooden plaque will be presented to the winners of each division. Samplers of the food starts at 4 to 6 o’clock.

Stewardson Lions Club will be hosting their 17th Annual Pancake & Sausage Breakfast on March 2nd at the Stewardson Community Building. Menu will be as follows:

Pancakes, Whole Hog Sausage, Lender’s Bagels, Milk, Orange Juice, Coffee. NEW this year: SCRAMBLED EGGS.
Adults $5.00 Children (4-12) $2.50

They will be serving from 6-10am

Stewardson Lions Club will be hosting their annual soup supper, January 20 from 4-8 at the Stewardson Community Building. Chili, chicken noodle soup, and potato soup will be the soups of choice and also will have hotdogs and grill cheese sandwiches along wiht desserts. Free will donation. Bingo will also be played from 4-8 pm. Come and support the Stewardson Lions Club.

Stewardson Christmas Trail of Lights Winners Announced

Winners of the Stewardson Christmas Trail of Lights were announced Sunday, December 16 at the Santa House on Main Street in Stewardson. The First place prize of $75 was awarded to the Danny Nichols/Schultz family of 314 E Main Street in Stewardson. The 2nd place prize of $50 went to the Dave Whitt family of 800 W Main and the 3rd place $25 prize was awarded to the Robert Loy family of 418 S Cedar. Two Honorable Mention Prizes were awarded to the Corkie Mueller family at 309 E S 2nd St and the Russell Saulsbery family of 314 E South 3rd St. in Stewardson.

The public is invited to tour the Stewardson Christmas Trail of Lights distributed throughout the village.Join in the fun as the Stewardson community celebrates the Christmas holidays!
